TIME TO GET BOOKING AS EARAGAIL ARTS FESTIVAL SHOWS START SELLING OUT FAST

first_imgThis Friday marks the start of the 27th Earagail Arts Festival and shows are already booking up fast.Sell out shows to date include ‘A Night with The Henry Girls’, (which, in a change to the programme, takes place at Colgan Hall, Carndonagh on Sunday 26th July).Those hoping to see The Henry Girls, however, can still catch their performance with Moya Brennan, as part of ‘The Song of the Seven Sisters’ event at The Clanree Hotel this Saturday, 11th July from 8pm. On Saturday, 11th July, Moya Brennan presents Song of the Seven Sisters, with The Henry Girls and Oum – The Soul of Morocco.This unique event sees Moya Brennan present a gala celebration of female voices from Donegal and further afield, including Oum – the Soul of Morocco. Joining Oum on the night are The Henry Girls, rising singer / songwriter Leila Jane with American folk singer, Twain, The Inishowen Gospel Choir and the Japanese Yushuro No Kai dance group. Moya Brennan’s daughter Aisling Jarvis will complete the ‘Song of the Seven Sisters’ line-up in what promises to be an unforgettable night of music. Doors open 8pm and tickets cost €27.50.On Sunday 12th July, traditional superstars, Altan, perform an exclusive world premiere at the Clanree Hotel, joined by Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Mary Chapin CarpenterOn the evening of Sunday 12th July, traditional superstars, Altan, return to Donegal to perform an exclusive world premiere at the Clanree Hotel, joined by Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter with support from local artists Clann Mac Ruaraidh and the recently signed Eve Belle. Doors open 8pm and tickets cost €27.50. Tickets to both ‘Song of the Seven Sisters’ and ‘Altan Plus Special Guests’ are still available for a combined rate of €40.00.As part of Earagail Arts Festival’s opening weekend, Letterkenny will host the inaugural Donegal International Folk & Roots Festival, featuring an exciting four-day programme of walks, talks, film, music sessions, exhibitions and concerts.As part of Earagail Arts Festival’s opening weekend, Letterkenny will host the inaugural Donegal International Folk & Roots Festival, featuring an exciting four-day programme of walks, talks, film, music sessions, exhibitions and concerts. The Donegal International Folk & Roots Festival showcases a wide variety of international folk and roots styles. Throughout the weekend, some of the most iconic of Letterkenny’s main street premises will host a series of free and “open to all” traditional music seisiúns, from 5pm until 8pm on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July. Members of the public are invited to come along, bring their instruments and join in or just sit back and enjoy the early evening tunes with some of Donegal’s finest local traditional musicians.There are four music seisiúns taking place over the weekend, starting on Saturday 11th July at 5pm in Dillons Hotel, Upper Main Street, Letterkenny. At 6.30pm the traditional music seisiún will take place in The Cottage Bar, Upper Main Street Letterkenny. Sunday 12th July’s traditional music seisiúns begins at 5pm in McGinleys Bar, Lower Main Street, Letterkenny, and moves to The Brewery Bar, Market Square, Letterkenny at 6.30pm.
