(North West Newspix)A brother of notorious double-killer John Gallagher has warned it is only a matter of time before he takes another life – and he fears it could be his.Donal Gallagher spoke out against his sibling after a bitter court feud between the pair ended this week.Donal was forced to pay compensation and was bound to the peace after being found guilty of criminal damage against the killer. Donal Gallagher leaving an earlier sitting at Letterkenny courtBut he claims he was provoked into reacting to his brother’s taunts.Builder Donal, 52, says he has been forced to put in CCTV and a hi-tech security system in his home outside Strabane because he knows the day will come when his killer brother will call to his home.He told the Irish Sun newspaper “I am not a betting man but I will put any money that he kills again. A leopard does not change its spots.“He will kill again and I’m trying to make sure that I’m not the one at the end of it when he does.” Donal claims his brother, who shot his ex-girlfriend, 18-year-old Anne Gillespie, and her mother Annie, 51, in the grounds of Sligo General Hospital in 1988, is stalking him.John Gallagher was tried for murder but was found to be insane. He escaped from Dundrum Central Mental Hospital and fled to England where he lived for twelve years before moving to Strabane in Co Tyrone. He then sensationally handed himself into authorities at Dundrum Mental Hospital in May 2012 but was released again just over a month later.Donal Gallagher claims his life has been a living hell since his brother’s return to Strabane – just a mile across the border where the family were raised in Lifford. He says he was forced to install an elaborate CCTV and security system at his home because of his fears that John will come for him.“I know what he is capable of. I have seen him rip our family apart. He is not intelligent but he is cunning and he is devious.“He wil stop at nothing to get his own way. We have already seen what he is capable of. When he killed those women in Sligo, that was premeditated.“He took my father’s gun and he drove to Sligo and blew them away. He could have killed others only for the gun jammed. “I have cameras all around my house and I am ready if he ever does call here. He is not stupid enough to be caught near my house but I know he has been closely.“When I go into Lifford or into Strabane, he tries to provoke me. He follows me and films me. He tries to make me freak out,” said Donal Gallagher from his home. The two brothers appeared in court this week as tensions mount between the family over their late father’s estate in Lifford.Josie Gallagher had built up a large sand and gravel business in the border town before he died eight years ago.Since his death a bitter family feud has seen the siblings split and go their separate ways. The two brothers ended up in Falcarragh District Court this week as Donal, 52, was charged with criminal damage at Main Street in Lifford on October 27, 2012.Double killer John Gallagher, the only witness in the case, told Judge Paul Kelly that he had been travelling to Lifford to do some shopping his mother when he observed his brother travelling in a silver Vauxhall Vectra car behind him.He claimed he had been subjected to a campaign of intimidation by his brother and was in fear of him so decided to change his route.CCTV taken from a camera in John Gallagher’s van was used in evidence in the case and showed his brother Donal getting out of his car and picking up a rock before throwing it towards the windscreen “with brutal force”.Donal Gallagher, told the court that on the date in question, he went across road to find stick to defend himself from John as he was in fear of him but could only find a stone. He said he lived in fear of his brother John and outlined an incident where his brother Frances called him to the house. On that occasion, Donal claimed that John had said to his siblings that he’d make “Sligo look like a drizzle compared to what he’d do to us.”The court heard that there had been rising tension in the family since the death of the father and their late brother Francis. The question of the administration of their late father’s will was also causing tension, the court heard.Judge Paul Kelly said that it was clear that the unfortunate history between both brothers had given rise to this situation. He said there was tension between parties to say the very least. He bound Donal Gallagher to the peace for twelve months on his own bond of €500 and ordered him to pay €521 for the repair of John Gallagher’s van window was also ordered.Donal told the Irish Sun he regrets attacking his brother’s van but said he was left with no option.“He set me up. I’ve no question about it. He knew exactly what he was doing and I’m just sorry that I fell for it. I’ll put my hands up – he got me and I fell for it,” he said.Donal claims John’s only interest now is to get his hands on ALL of his father’s estate and to cut out his other siblings. He said his late father, who passed away eight years ago, would be turning in his grave if he knew what was going out.“He was a hugely respected man who built up a great business from nothing. And he helped out so many people who had very little back in the day.But Donal added “I’ve every bit as much right to my father’s estate as he has – more in fact. He done nothing to help my father growing up.“The rest of us all helped out but all he was interested in was messing about in cars.“I only want what I feel we are entitled to but he is making sure that he turns our mother against us.“I will be happy enough if the entire estate is eventually divided up equally when it comes to it,” he added.Donal says he is so frustrated, frightened and fed-up with the feuding that he is now considering moving to England.“I will not give up on my right to part of my father’s estate but I am sick of all this.“My youngest son is 17 and when he gets older I would consider moving to England to get away from all this.“I have three children doing well for themselves. I am glad they moved away and are not part of all this.“My wife is very strong but she knows how much this has hurt me.“He has already destroyed one family but I will not let him destroy another,” he added.BROTHER OF DOUBLE-KILLER GALLAGHER CLAIMS HE WILL STRIKE AGAIN was last modified: October 25th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:Donal GallagherdonegalJohn GallagherkillerLiffordstrabanelast_img read more
